Overcoming Sexual Temptations

Scripture to bring you to the next level of physical freedom.

  • But you are a shield around me, O Lord; you bestow glory on me and lift up my head.
    - Psalm 3:3
  • May integrity and uprightness protect me, because my hope is in you.
    - Psalm 25:21
  • Vindicate me, O Lord, for I have led a blameless life; I have trusted in the Lord without wavering. But I lead a blameless life; redeem me and be merciful to me.
    - Psalm 26:1,11
  • Be pleased, O Lord, to save me; O Lord, come quickly to help me. May all who seek to take my life be put to shame and confusion; may all who desire my ruin be turned back in disgrace.
    - Psalm 40:13-14
  • It is better to take refuge in the Lord than to trust in man.
    - Psalm 118:8
  • I have hidden your word in my heart that I might not sin against you.
    - Psalm 119:11
  • For the Lord gives wisdom, and from his mouth come knowledge and understanding. He holds victory in store for the upright, he is a shield to those whose walk is blameless, for he guards the course of the just and protects the way of his faithful ones.

Then you will understand what is right and just and fair - every good path. For wisdom will enter your heart, and knowledge will be pleasant to your soul. Discretion will protect you, and understanding will guard you. It will save you also from the adulteress, from the wayward wife with her seductive words, who has left the partner of her youth and ignored the covenant she made before God.

For her house leads down to death and her paths to the spirits of the dead. None who go to her return or attain the paths of life. Thus you will walk in the ways of good men and keep to the paths of the righteous.
    - Proverbs 2:6-11, 16-20
  • For the Lord will be your confidence and will keep your foot from being snared.
    - Proverbs 3:26
  • Drink water from your own cistern, running water from your own well. Should your springs overflow in the streets, your streams of water in the public squares? Let them be yours alone, never to be shared with strangers. May your fountain be blessed, and may you rejoice in the wife of your youth.

A loving doe, a graceful deer - may her breasts satisfy you always, may you ever be captivated by her love. Why be captivated, my son, by an adulteress? Why embrace the bosom of another man's wife?

For a man's ways are in full view of the Lord, and he examines all his paths. The evil deeds of a wicked man ensnare him; the cords of his sin hold him fast. He will die for lack of discipline, led astray by his own great folly.
    - Proverbs 5:15-23
  • For these [God's] commands are a lamp, this teaching is a light, and the corrections of discipline are the way to life, keeping you from the immoral woman, from the smooth tongue of the wayward wife.

Do not lust in your heart after her beauty or let her captivate you with her eyes, for the prostitute reduces you to a loaf of bread, and the adulteress preys upon your very life. Can a man scoop fire into his lap without his clothes being burned?

Can a man walk on hot coals without his feet being scorched? So is he who sleeps with another man's wife; no one who touches her will go unpunished.
    - Proverbs 6:23-29
  • And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from the evil one.
    - Matthew 6:13
  • Watch and pray so that you will not fall into temptation. The spirit is willing, but the body is weak.
    - Matthew 26:41
  • For sin shall not be your master, because you are not under law, but under grace.
    - Romans 6:14
  • No temptation has seized you except what is common to man. And God is faithful; he will not let you be tempted beyond what you can bear. But when you are tempted, he will also provide a way out so that you can stand up under it.
    - 1 Corinthians 10:13
  • You were taught, with regard to your former way of life, to put off your old self, which is being corrupted by its deceitful desires.
    - Ephesians 4:22
  • Because he himself suffered when he was tempted, he is able to help those who are being tempted.
    - Hebrews 2:18
  • Blessed is the man who perseveres under trial, because when he has stood the test, he will receive the crown of life that God has promised to those who love him. When tempted, no one should say, "God is tempting me." For God cannot be tempted by evil, nor does he tempt anyone; but each one is tempted when, by his own evil desire, he is dragged away and enticed.
    - James 1:12-14
  • Be self-controlled and alert. Your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour. Resist him, standing firm in the faith, because you know that your brothers throughout the world are undergoing the same kind of sufferings.
    - 1 Peter 5:8-9
  • The Lord knows how to rescue godly men from trials and to hold the unrighteous for the day of judgment, while continuing their punishment.
    - 2 Peter 2:9
  • Since you have kept my command to endure patiently, I will also keep you from the hour of trial that is going to come upon the whole world to test those who live on the earth.
    - Revelation 3:10
  • On reaching the place, he said to them, "Pray that you will not fall into temptation." "Why are you sleeping?" he asked them. "Get up and pray so that you will not fall into temptation."
    - Luke 22:40,46
  • For we do not have a high priest who is unable to sympathize with our weaknesses, but we have one who has been tempted in every way, just as we are - yet was without sin.
    - Hebrews 4:15
